OXAND group opens a new office in Calgary

Calgary, Alberta — 01/08/2008

After Montreal in 2007, OXAND group pursues its expansion in North America with the opening of a new OXAND Canada office in Calgary. “Heart of the New West” and Oil & Gas capital of Canada, Calgary offers great opportunities for the development of OXAND’s risk management services in the region. The expertise of OXAND in the energy sector and particularly its unique risk management approach to CCS (Carbon Capture and Sequestration) applications will be a key asset, since this technology is facing an unprecedented growth in Canada and the US. OXAND offers to major energy players a broad range of risk management services applied to major capital programs, throughout the whole project’s lifecycle. In this regard Calgary and Alberta are a strategic location: Ø    The Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and mostly Alberta is by far the most suitable region for large-scale CO2 storage, (Canistore report 2004) with an estimated capacity of more than 100 billion tons. Ø    The oilsands rapid development will entail a steep increase in CO2 emissions of the province over the next decades. In order to curb these emissions the Albertan and Federal Governments champion the implementation of large commercial CCS projects, with an objective of 140 Mt of CO2 being sequestered annually by 2050. This proximity of large sources of emissions from abundant storage capacities favors the emergence of commercial-scale CCS applications. In this regard OXAND offers to major energy players a vast array of risk management services, from strategic management of the risks associated with CCS projects to operational well integrity studies in the CO2 storage area. From Calgary OXAND will also support LNG and other large infrastructure operators, in their overhauls and capital projects.
