Long Term Investment Plan for Belgian Railway Network
Infrabel, the managing entity of the Belgian railway network, has defined a provisional investment plan for the renewal and extension of its railway network over the period 2013 – 2025.
Infrabel commissioned the EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), with the assistance of Oxand Switzerland, to provide an independent third party expert review of the projected investment level required for the maintenance of its railway infrastructures.
After a preliminary phase of technical interviews with key players at Infrabel, Oxand’s experts implemented the Simeo™ Stratego software solution, which allows the simulation of long term investment budgets for the railway network.
After studying the different scenarios, the analyses carried out provided confirmation of Infrabel’s investment plan proposal as regards “maintenance of capacity.”
