USA: A risk-based cost analysis for UNISTAR
Unistar was faced with a decision between two alternatives for the Essential Service Water system of a potential new-build EPR project in the USA: to bury the pipes directly in the ground, or to place them in underground vaults.
Oxand undertook a risk-based cost analysis of the two alternatives, allowing direct quantitative comparison, and highlighting the opportunities and constraints of each.
Oxand developed a fully customisable cost-model tailored to UniStar’s situation, including an integrated pipe ageing model. This model provided key decision-making support, merging the technical and financial aspects of the problem. (2010)
